Hi guys, fellow Rambo-heads! I need your help here, it will be much appreciated, and, you will be credited. I'm seeking more information regarding various cuts/edits of First Blood. The main one being the special "Hope cut" (as I recall "a thank you to this infamous town, from where it is never to leave...") which I read about somewhere, once...  Also, the rumoured extended TV versions (see here for an example: www.imdb.com/title/tt0083944/board/thread/104434745?d=104434745&p=1#104434745)are of much interest, as are scripts - pre-shooting and shooting. Any links, memories, thoughts... any sources whatsoever much appreciated. I would very much like to put all the information I can gather in one place sometime, for fans of FB, and all things Rambo. Help! |

Sorry I know about as much as you mate, apart from the extended Hope cut had extra time with Teasel apparently and some small other bits. The TV version you talk about had the violence cut, and these extended scenes added to make up the time, like with Rambo playing with a rifle. Also there is a rumor that the dog killing scene had on beta max a scene where you see Rambo killing one of the Doberman, how true this is, is anybodies guess.

Some television versions are said to include a scene in the beginning of the movie where Rambo enters a town diner to buy some takeout, and the cashiers hassle him, first not serving him, then charging him for condiments. Finally he just leaves. This pic is from that scene:  |

I know of a few scenes that never made the film because I know people who appeared in them. Don't know about a 'Hope cut' though. And I live in Hope and saw the first screening at our local theater. Lived here at the time of the movie too.
I was a paramedic on location at some of the stunts including the tree jump and the railroad track jump in which Benny Dobbins as Teasel broke his back.

Here are the majority of the deleted scenes, that I found, and my friend Herve Attia transfered, and made a great edit...enjoy. :-)
