I pastor a church in Oklahoma, and I have a good friend who he and his wife are leaders of a missionary team called "Triumphant Ministries International". For several years they have done much relief/missions work in Burma, going 3 times in the 4 years that I have been here in Oklahoma. I visited with him about this movie and the accuracies of the portrayal of the military oppressions that are displayed on the movie. He said that, though they have been fortunate enough to not have to experience first hand any of the atrocities that are depicted, it was 100% accurate. The Myanmar government wants nothing more than the complete eradication of the Karen people. Their goal is total genocide. This is also being shown in the handling of relief efforts by the Myanmar government with the recent natural disasters that have taken place. My friend with TMI has attempted to get in there to help with the relief efforts, and they have been denied.

Just interesting to know that there were no real embellishments on Stallone's depiction of how things are over there. Every time my friends team goes over, they have to be smuggled across the border to accomplish their goal. Sheds a more real light on this movie for me.
