Hi guys,
After many searches on the subject, I found many interesting things. English is not my first language, so please forgive any mistake.
Hope you enjoy this reading!

Real life episodes used for the first movie
Booby traps used by Rambo against police agents in the first movie are real life booby traps, as they were used by vietcong during the vietnam war. The ones depicted in the movie can really be made with no tools then a knife and some rope, and in a little time.
The Vietnam war unit which inspired the Rambo character was called MacVsog.
Most of the military personnel assigned to this unit came from the '5° special forces', which trained at Fort Bragg.
MacVsog is well known for their covert operations behind enemy lines, using guerrilla warfare, and sometimes even wearing vietcong clothes.
The “jump scene” of the first movie is inspired by a real life MacVsog war episode, as described by author John Plaster in one of his books.
Spotted and outnumbered 1 to 100 by enemy forces, a small MacVsog team begun running for their lives under enemy fire, trying to escape, until they came to a high cliff.
As their fate was to be captured or killed, they choosen to try what seemed to be a suicide jump, hoping to be able to use the top of the trees of the thick jungle to soften their fall.
Every member of the team reported injuries, but as they get under jungle cover, they were out the line of sight of the vietcongs. Without a clear line of sight, the shoots were no more dangerous.
And, most of all, no one of the vietcongs dared that kind of suicide jump to follow the team.
So, when the little team ran away, no vietcong followed them, and all team members got to safety.
Hollow handle knives were really used by special forces operators during Vietnam war. Born for downed pilots usage, they where introduced to special forces operators because going behind enemy lines were considered a similar situation to the one downed pilots had to face with.

ps: I did this searching work for writing the unofficial fanfiction story about the young John Rambo in vietnam.
I am searching fans who are willing to read the first episode of my book, before putting it on the worldwide web. Do you want to read it? I will send it to you by email. No spam/no money request, I promise, I will just ask you if you liked it.
