Definetly the red one. I got to know Rambo wearing a red headband. Nice contrast to his black clothes and equipment.

Gee, the dark red from FB part 2 of course! I think its because people remember him that way from that film or Rambo in general. That movie made Rambo iconic.

Found this from IMDB, very interesting...
"First off, symbology means the use of symbolism or the study of symbols. Symbolism is the word you're looking for...what is the symbolism of the headband.
Yeah, in the first one he had a wound on his head and you could take it that he used it as a bandage, though that might not be totally correct.
It was common for soldiers in Vietnam to turn t-shirts into headbands and bandanas...because the jungle is hot and those helmets were uncomfortable on a bare head or hair. In fact, a headband is more useful for people with short hair or shaved heads, because long hair catches sweat and can help keep it out of your eyes. Also, in that war, hair got long. The regs allowed it to be longer to begin with and it was a little harder to enforce haircuts with jungle grunts. And Green Berets and other members of the special forces have historically been allowed to grow their hair out, and grow beards, simply for the fact that it helps them blend in and makes them look less like a soldier when they need to. The purpose of those regs is uniformity, and special forces are set apart, not needing to blend in with the ranks anymore.
In the First Blood flashbacks we see he's wearing a headband in Vietnam, so it was probably always his thing. Doing it made him feel comfortable. When the second one came out...it was mid-80s so they made it a thinner piece of cloth that looked more like the headbands that were in style at the time. For the third one, same thing...it was '88 and by then it had become his look, though it stayed black in that one. For the fourth one they went to a wider, more bandana type of thing, but he's still in a hot climate and it makes sense. It's just Rambo's thing. It might tie loosely in to him being Native American if you like to think about it that way.
As for the bow an arrow...the mid-80s was the first time compound bows got to the point where they were reliable and extremely powerful. They started to make advancements in the late 70s but made dramatic leaps with the addition of lighter alloys an synthetic materials as the years went on. And they started to look cool. Before then, they usually incorporated wood and lighter colors and looked like they were made for hunting. The Hoyt bow Rambo uses was all black and looked tactical. Point is, they used it because it was a cool weapon that was quiet and hadn't been used on screen much before, not because he was Native American. Early drafts of the scrip had Rambo carrying a pistol crossbow thing as a silent weapon. It was imitated often after this and the third one, so it worked."
