No, no, no cheap poll to know who is stronger between the two (John would blast Terminator off with a nuclear bazooka or something ahahahahah ;D). Who character/what franchise is more popular WORLDWIDE? And in America?

Rambo would win in Europe no doubts but The Terminator was bigger here than Rambo ever was.

I'd say terminator altogether, it's just a far bigger franchise.

I'm just going on when I grew up, I heard alot more mention of Terminator and stuff then I did of Rambo.
that's not to say I'm not a bigger RAMBO FAN though, I just think as a franchise both in america and worldwide, the Terminator made alot more buck for it's bang.

If anything they're pretty eaqually popular. I think that's not what matters that much anyway. Just because some film appeals to a wider demographics doesn't mean that it has stronger influence on our everyday lives, which undoubtedly Rambo wins in such a category. Look at it this way, Terminator films are just that - "films". Whereas Rambo easily transcends the barries of the cinematic media. It goes far beyond that.

Well put, Tobey! I could't have said it better.
The RAMBO trilogy was a cultural/political/social phenomenon, wherever the Terminator movies were just pure escapism and entertainment (nothing wrong with it, even). Now RAMBO is more than a simple POP-ICON, I think the character is as much popular as Elvis Presley and the Beatles, all around the world. Russia loves Rambo. Asia loves Rambo. Africa knows about Rambo. I bet all the world knows the movies.
IT's not about box-office. Take in account that the RAMBO MOVIES were gorgeous smash-hit in the home video department, TV broadcasting ratings and merchandising (games anyone?).

I'd say it was pretty equal really. People quote Rambo as much as Terminator but then Terminator just had the luxury of picking up as Rambo started tailing off so Terminator might just be first in peoples minds.

Rambo and the Terminator are my two favorite franchises of all time, and following closely in second place would be the Ghostbusters. I voted that Rambo and the Terminator are equal, because of my shared appreciation for them. My top 3 films of all time are, 1-tie) Terminator 2: Judgement Day Rambo III 2) Ghostbusters And then Rambo II, First Blood and Rambo IV would be shortly behind them.

Rambo is more popular worldwide, he's definetly more popular than the Terminator in the Middle East.

Everybody likes Rambo more in Europe.
Terminator 2 alone kills in the U.S.

Renewed interest in the series puts Rambo ahead of Terminator. Plus, people use the term "Rambo" to overcome an overwhelming obstacle. That's pretty freaking cool.
