Before you go to read this TRUTHFUL thread, keep in mind that:
1- The RAMBO TETRALOGY is set on a parallel Earth version, where the history of the last decades is slightly (or heavily) different from our continuum. It's an alternative dimension (sort of 'Steampunk' opus... if you're familiar with the concept).
2- The Mujaheddins depicted in 'Rambo III' were supposed to be the slightly-diverged COUNTERPART of the ones led by Ahmad Shah Masoud in our reality. The Mujaheddin leader in this film is even named 'Masoud'.
In our reality, Masoud's Mujaheddins joined forces with troops led by the secularist and former communist ally General Dostum to form the Northern Alliance after the Talibans overthrew the ineffective post-Soviet-war Afghan government. The Talibans and Al Queda themselves emerged from Mujaheddin factions that were rivals of Masoud during the Soviet war.
After the premise, let's go straightforward to the "pivotal concept" of this thread:
BASICALLY, RAMBO JOINED THE "GOOD FACTION" OF THE MUJAHEDDINS, ON A SOIL *CONSTANTLY* RAVAGED BY RUSSIANS.
Rambo helped the Afghans to get rid of the Russians, or at least he gave a consistent "example" and adequately "stimulated" other Mujaheddin factions to revolt as well against the persecutors.
Eventually, in Rambo's space-time continuum, Afghans were consequencially able to develop a rightful government of some sort, and thus create a new supremacy on the territory. Talibans never banded together, because they never originated in the first place.
Bottom line: in N.Y. 2008 A.D. (alternative dimension) there are still the Twin Towers.
