what movie score really grabs you?
for me it's gotta be first blood part 2, I just love how it sounds.
namely the tracks
PREPERATION and ESCAPE FROM TORTURE.
It's really interesting thinking about scenes YOU can make up while listening to it, and the music from FB pt2 gives me millions of em.
what about you guys? and state why it's your favorite.

'RAMBO: FIRST BLOOD PART II' is the best, yes.

Part II score is the second greatest soundtrack of all time. The first is the score to Conan the Barbarian.

'RAMBO: FIRST BLOOD PART II' is the best, yes. Agreed. It's the biggest, most epic soundtrack outta the four films.

Rambo: First Blood Part II is the best.
Rambo III had some nice tracks though - I especially liked the music leading into Stick Fight. I though Brian Tyler did a cracking job on the new score too.

I think Rambo III had the best one. Rambo II had a good one too, but it was kinda repetitive.

I like the Stories track from the second Rambo film. It's a great scene with a great accompanying track.
I also love the tune in Rambo III when John is sitting on the rock looking at the sun after Trautmans 'full circle' speech.
Battle Adagio from the from this latest film is something of splendor though. Retaining the Rambo theme but adding a deeper sincerity.

Yes, Battle Adagio is the best aria of all the films, IMHO. THE BEST.
Bryan Tyler ROCKS.

I couldn't really choose between the first 3 by Jerry Goldsmith. Those are all awesome scores. I listen to them a lot.
Brian Tyler's score is ok, but it's a total departure from the music in the previous films. It works well for the film, but I can't help but feel that it is musically inferior. Like it is more generic and lower quality stuff that's fed to the masses. Goldsmith music was masterful. Brian Tyler's music wasn't. It had some pretty good moments, but overall it wasn't nearly as good as the Goldsmith scores.

I'd have to disagree. Rambo is now less bombastic, more reflective and the music echoes this. Yes it's less powerful and I wouldn't have minded a few more distinctive themes but I think it worked very well in the film.
I think an overblown, too orchestral score would have sit at odds with the film. I thought Battle Adagio as the camera swept the aftermath of the battlefield (and also at the end of the village destuction sequence) worked incredibly well and was more touching that one would have expected.
Brian Tyler's score is less varied but works well.

Brian Tyler's score is less varied but works well. My thoughts exactly! Goldsmith is epic, classic and did I say classic? I own a lot of his composed work, and the main theme from Rambo: First Blood Part II still gives me goosebumps. But Tyler has to fill great shoes and he did a very VERY respectable job. The score for Rambo has subtle echoes of the soundtrack of the first film en the music that is playing over the aftermatch was moving me to tears (I kid you not). And a composer that is able to do that is great in my book. The Tyler score gave the allready iconic character even more layers! After watching the movie four times now I am still not able to get the music (and the movie ;D) out of my head, so I ordered the Brian Tyler soundtrack...

FB 2 of course! Probably the reason why I love FB 2 more than the other films (besides the action of course). The Rambo II soundtrack is epic in so many ways. I think Goldsmith was at his finest at that time. The drums, the heroic military themes... It is perfect!
