First Blood, there really is no contest in my mind.

First Blood is my favorite because even though it has this reputation as being an action flick (mostly among people who really haven't ever sat down and watched it), I think it's more of a drama and tragedy. Yes, there is action in it, but it's not just about flashy special effects and the protagonist being a bada*s. It's about a broken man abadoned by the government he fought for who gets pushed to his limit by a twisted part of society.
Rambo is a REALLY close second though. In fact, I think I probably like them equally. They're very different films, but both extremely entertaining in their own right. Rambo has more death and destruction in it (probably the most violent film I've ever seen, and that's saying a lot because I'm a huge fan of horror films; I've seen a lot of violent movies), but it's still SO character driven (I don't care what the critics say- it was not mindless gore). Without Rambo, this movie wouldn't be what it is.

I voted for First Blood, but I liked them all. They are all a bit different. Even Rambo III I liked - but the last half hour was a bit too daft for me.

mjscarface,
Welcome aboard!
I just think 'RAMBO III' is the more heart-lighted and epic entry in the series but... every Rambo movie is MARVELLOUS!

Hi guys,
New member here my name's David-Shea or Dave, whatever. Just found this awesome site and had to join it!
Now to answer this question when I was a little kid First Blood Part II was my overall favorite! I mean there was just no other film like it. However in recent years since I became more of a film buff I liked First Blood the best, but after seeing Rambo last night, damn, it's a hard choice. But I'm gonna go with Rambo. It's basically the orignal character from the book in more of a modern time zone. It was great.

First Blood closely followed by IV, II, III. I loved II and III "back in the day" - I remember I was 10 years old (looked much younger) when II opened in cinemas here in the UK - I'd already enjoyed the pleasures of FB many times on vhs... don't tell my parents - and I knew I had no chance of gaining access to II at the cinema, but I still tried, and tried, and failed and failed... until it opened a couple of weeks later in the "cheap chain" around the corner from the "big guns" (Odeon, ABC (long gone - RIP ABC)) in the city centre, and in I walked with a couple of friends and no questions asked.... awesome! I think that tells what I thought - and still do - about First Blood, and the Rambo character.

It's a damn close tie between First Blood and Rambo. In the latest installment (IV) John Rambo is a lot more profound.

I'm torn between First Blood and Rambo with Rambo II closely behind. I wasn't blown away by the third one.

Rambo (Really loved it!!), Rambo: First Blood Part II (guilty pleasure), Rambo III (entertainingly over the top), First Blood (classic, but I have grown more with the sequels). I see a pattern here. Every Rambo movie is MEANT to be different, has a different feeling and a different purpose to accomplish.

It's only when I need to give up a top 4, but they are actually all masterpieces in the action genre!!!

I'd have to say i liked Rambo with First Blood coming in as second. I think Rambo and, a bit off topic, Rocky Balboa hold a special place in my heart because they are the only ones I was able to watch in the cinema. Growing up, I have become a HUGE Stallone fan and was very happy to see him make a come back during my generation.

Ramboman,
That's true, 'RAMBO' is the only Rambo movie I've seen in a theatre. It gained a special place in my heart since then, of course.
But... my first Rocky movie at a theatre was... ROCKY IV! The biggest cinematic experience of my childhood. I was just 8!
